The way Evie practices

Evie Elman practices and draws enormous inspiration from one of her Qi Gong teachers, Master Liu He. QI Gong and TCM are both focused on cultivating healthy qi and balance within, to be attuned to life outside. Master Liu He learned Qi Gong from her grandfather at a time when women weren't typically practicing or teaching Qi Gong. Her Qigong philosophy is rooted in the goal of becoming a "spiritual turtle". The turtle represents peace, calm, and longevity. The turtle practices deep breathing, slow and peaceful movements, and seems to hold an ancient wisdom.

Evie guides her acupuncture and herbal medicine treatments based on these principles inspired by TCM and Master Liu He.

Harmonizing with Nature

Supporting patients to be attuned to and aligned with the rhythms of nature. Humans are deeply connected to the natural world, and by observing and adapting to seasonal and environmental changes, we can maintain harmony and vitality.

Principles

Balancing Yin and Yang

Master Liu He teaches the importance of balancing Yin (feminine, moon, receptive energy) and Yang (masculine, sun, active energy) to maintain health and harmony. Regulating these energies supports a healthy flow of Qi in the body.

Cultivating Qi

TCM  focuses on gathering, cultivating, and harmonizing Qi to support physical health, mental clarity, and emotional stability. Master Liu He views Qi as the bridge between the physical body and the universe, essential for life and well-being.

Spiritual Growth is Practice

The principles of qi cultivation serves as a spiritual discipline in Master Liu He’s teachings and TCM as a whole. Practicing living in harmony with nature helps one to learn their inner nature. Once one has this awareness, connecting to universal energy and the Tao is more attainable, creating the possibility of inner healing and transformation.

Mind-Body Connection

Through focused movements, breathwork, and visualization, we learn to calm the mind, release stress, and bring the body into alignment with ones heart and spirit.

The Five Elements and Seasonal Practices

Evie utilizes Master Liu He's qi gong visualizations, as well as acupuncture theories that connect to the principles of the Five Elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water. The principles of the five elements holds wisdom designed to harmonize the body with the time of the year for optimal health
